About Pixasur

Free image tools that run in your browser.

Pixasur is a collection of free online image tools. Today that means animage compressor that shrinks, converts, and resizes JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF, and a background remover that cuts the subject out of a photo with AI. The catch is that there is no catch. Everything is free, there is nothing to sign up for, and by default your images never get uploaded anywhere.

Why it exists

Most image tools online follow the same pattern. You upload your photos to someone else's server, wait, then download the result. That is slow, it puts your private pictures on a machine you do not control, and it usually comes with limits on how many files you can do or how big they can be. We thought that was backwards. Browsers are powerful enough to do the whole job on their own now, so that is exactly what Pixasur does.

How it works

When you drop an image into the compressor, your browser decodes it, resizes it if you asked, and re-encodes it using the same WebAssembly codecs that power professional tools: MozJPEG for JPEG, OxiPNG for PNG, and the reference encoders for WebP and AVIF. The background remover loads an open AI segmentation model into your browser the first time you use it and runs it on your own hardware. In both cases the work happens on your device, so the tools stay fast no matter how many images you throw at them.

The background remover also has one optional extra: a Refine button that sends that single photo to our server for a sharper, full-resolution cutout. It only runs when you press it, and the page says exactly what it does.

Free, and staying that way

There is no account, no subscription, and no watermark. You do not hand over an email to use any of it. Open a tool, drop in your images, and download the results.

  • Convert older formats to WebP or AVIF
  • Resize by dimension, percentage, or a ready-made social size
  • Set a target file size and let the tool find the quality
